Check camera.

One click, one answer: is your webcam working, yes or no. No settings, no charts — just a quick check before a call.

About this check

What the quick camera check actually verifies

This page is the fast version of a webcam test: it opens your camera, confirms the browser can read a live video frame, and gives you a single working / not working verdict in a couple of seconds. It skips resolution numbers, frame rate charts, and lighting analysis on purpose — sometimes you don't need a diagnostic, you just need to know whether you're about to walk into a call with a dead camera.

Why a quick check beats opening Zoom two minutes early

Most people's camera test is joining the call and hoping. That works right up until it doesn't — and when it doesn't, you're troubleshooting live, in front of an interviewer or a client, with no time to think. Running this check in a separate tab before you open your meeting app costs about five seconds and catches the two most common failures ahead of time: a camera that's locked by another app, and a browser permission that quietly reset itself. Neither of those show up until something actually tries to use the camera, which is exactly what this page does.

What a “fail” result usually means

A failed check almost always traces back to one of a few causes, roughly in order of likelihood: another application (Zoom, Teams, OBS) still holding the camera from a previous session, a browser permission set to blocked rather than ask, or — less often — a physical privacy shutter left closed. True hardware failure is rare. If this check fails, our camera permission checker runs the same step-by-step diagnosis a browser goes through and tells you exactly which step is stuck, and the troubleshooting guides cover the rest case by case.

When to use the full test instead

This page only answers yes/no. If the camera works but you want to know the real resolution and frame rate it's delivering, or whether your lighting will make you look washed out on the call, use the full webcam test instead — same privacy guarantee, more detail.
